Good design looks easy
Like artists and craftsmen, good designers
make it look easy, but as we know, this is an illusion – the
easy, conversational tone of good writing, for instance, comes
only on the eighth rewrite.
In science and engineering, some of the greatest
inventions seem so simple that you might say to yourself, ‘I
could have thought of that’ – the inventor is entitled
to reply, ‘why didn’t you?’
